Ok so I was just watching Re-runs of Gameamp HD And they were showing the Guild Wars Factions Championship and Guilds like Idiot Savants, War Machine, The Last Pride and Treacherous Empire were all competeing. Do any of these guilds still exist and if they dont what happened. Just Curious

The game got old and boring, and Anet stopped hosting major events.
That happened.

I am not sure why everyone quit, but it was probably a mixture of real life catching up to us and the game was going downhill from the addition of more skills. I still hang around and talk to Te, iQ, & EvIL members, we're all patiently waiting for GW2 to come out, and playing other games in the mean time. A lot of EvIL had to go into the mandatory Korean army training too.

Well I know vD had too much to handle with in real life so they disbanded, EvIL of course had the army training, and I'm sure alot just stopped playing from boredom and disbanded.

Dunno about the others but EVIL ( The Last pride ) had life happen. Several players were called for military service and tho they kinda got back ,they never made it to the levels of competition they once had. Again..life,families happen.

Shouldn't most of Evil be out of training by now? Slayers Boxer (of SC fame) went in the military after the Factions Championship and is already out.
But yea...most of these people quit the game, probably because the game went down hill after that tournament. Its good to watch the height of the game though.

But what is the point? The $100,000 tournaments and paid trips are all over. For most people, videogames and competitive gaming is fun between 18-25, then real life takes over. GW has been out for over 4 years, people grew old, graduated Uni/College, etc.

Yes the members of [evil] are all currently out of the military i believe. The problem is to come from a competitive level that they were at before they left, and then to come back to an almost completely new game is extremely difficult. They reformed [evil] with most of their core a while back and i remember watching them on obs mode and just seeing them get destroyed over and over.
I think danjang still plays, as well as last of master but no where near the competitive level they used to play on.
Soul wedding no longers plays gw if i'm correct.

Breakdown of EvIL after the Championships:
EvIL was on hiatus while most members took part in the mandatory military service required in Korea.
Mid-to-Late 2008, EvIL came back, formed The Return with old EvIL and WM members. Only some of the old core completely returned. Some players, including Soul Wedding, were no longer in the military, but still did not play.
The Return struggles as they were in a completely new meta and pretty rusty at the game. Never managed to break top 100.
Then they were extended an invite to take part in the Aion korean beta, which they accepted, and left Guild Wars for.
Sunho, one of the better English speakers in the guild said this about The Return leaving for Aion:
Quote:
when we start play together, we did not have korean player base to come back to, and many of us did not know top pvp from europe/america to practice with, or get caught up on game style change. Anet supported us alot in the beginning, but that support faded. with other ncsoft games eager to build a player base, specifically aion which has launched a korean beta and invited our whole team to participate. many of our players question a reason to play this game. i do not see the 3 month come back happening. so in short, article wasn't an interview, just written. we acknowledge the shift in the game, and if aion stops being fun to play than guildwars, we may adapt to current game style.\ If any further questions arise, we will answer as best as possible. Thank you for support given, it is nice to see encouragement/criticism alike as korean guildwars community is no longer exist.

Danjang is the only core EvIL member that still regularly plays Guild Wars.
And, as far as I know, EvIL is still playing Aion and they plan to come back for GW2.

They probably decided the cancel the tournaments when they made the decision to stop releasing expansions every 6 months and focus on GW2. They must've just figured that they wouldn't have $100k to give away on a Nightfall championship.

They thought they could make more money on PvE than PvP, and stopped marketing towards PvP (if they ever actually did in the first place).
Thus we got games like Nightfall and EoTN, and all was lost.
